Christine Lampard was taken aback when her husband Frank made a remark about The One Show during their initial encounter.

Christine was hosting the popular BBC show in 2009 when she found herself talking to the ex-England and Chelsea captain. On Loose Women: The Podcast, she revealed that Frank introduced himself without resorting to any "cheesy lines".

Instead, the former professional footballer confessed he would watch Christine "every night" on the telly. However, the TV host was dubious about the claim now made by the Coventry City manager.

Christine, 46, recalled: "I remember Frank's opening line to me was: 'Oh, hi' and I was doing The One Show at the time and he said: 'I watch you every night on The One Show' and I went: 'No you don't' and he said: 'No, no, I do', so I said: 'Who was my guest last night?' And he was able to tell me.

"I thought: 'Oh, not bad, not bad', research done. But I thought that was quite nice even if it was nonsense.

"The idea that there was just a little bit more info involved, I prefer that to the cheesy: 'Did you fall from heaven' and all that."

Fellow Loose Women star Coleen Nolan revealed she too isn't a fan of some cheesy chat up lines, , reports Coventry Live, admitting it is an "instant turn off" if someone says they are "in the mood for dancing" - a reference to the 1979 hit I'm in the Mood for Dancing by Coleen's band the Nolans. Coleen however admits she can appreciate a chat-up line depending on the delivery.

She said: "It depends how they say it. If they're saying those cheesy lines tongue-in-cheek, then it makes me laugh, and if you make me laugh, you don't even have to buy me a drink, I'm all yours."

Christine and Frank tied the knot in 2015 at St Paul's Church in Knightsbridge, London, and have since welcomed children Patricia and Freddie. Christine also takes on the role of step-mum to Frank's daughters, Isla and Luna, from his previous relationship.

Frank opened up about Christine's initial difficulties with becoming a stepmum during an interview on This Morning in 2016, saying: "It's been a long game, and you develop it slowly. Fair play to all of them. I'm the bystander in the situation, but the girls love Christine and vice versa."

He addressed the complexities of step-parenting by saying: "The step-parent thing is a real difficult thing. When you're not involved in the situation, you have no idea of how many difficulties there are for everyone, particularly Christine."

Nevertheless, Christine has managed to establish a strong bond with the girls, explaining: "They know I'm their little mate.

"I don't want to be their mummy. That was never even a thought."

In her television career, Christine has made a name for herself by presenting The One Show from 2007 to 2010 and joining the Loose Women panel in 2016, along with stints on programmes like This Morning.

Frank's Coventry City suffered a heartbreaking last minute loss in their Championship play-off semi-final with Sunderland last night.
