Bermuda became the first country in the world to abolish same-sex marriage, The Guardian reported.

The Governor of Bermuda signed a law to abolish the right of same-sex marriage, despite the ruling of the Supreme Court in May 2017.

According to the source, the bill will not affect same-sex marriages that have already taken place since same-sex marriage became legal.

Labor MP Chris Bryant called the bill a “deeply unpleasant and very cynical piece of legislation.”

“This totally undermines UK effort to advance LGBT rights,” he tweeted
