
Commission Confirms Justices to San Francisco, Orange County Appellate Courts
(Subscription required) The state Commission on Judicial Appointments on Friday confirmed two new courts of appeal justices, both of whom were rated "exceptionally well qualified" by judicial vetters. Charles Smiley, a 12-year judge of the Alameda County Superior Court, will serve as a justice on the First District Court of Appeal's Division One in San Francisco. Orange County Superior Court Judge Nathan Scott will join the Fourth District Court of Appeal, Division Three.
